Tea Partiers, don’t get all offended, I’m not trying to insult you, but just posing a question. Because there is no other way to explain your support of Republicans and their agenda. It goes against everything you say you are for (much of which I agree with).
As I showed in a previous post, recent history has proven, unarguably, that the Republicans could care less about helping average Americans. That includes you Tea Party. As a matter of fact, The Republican’s actively fight AGAINST helping Americans. The Republican’s only agenda is helping the top 1% of the country. Which means they are only going to help 1% of Tea Partiers at most.
Why doesn’t the Tea Party doesn't pick up on this? Why do they support Republicans when it goes against their own best interests?
Before you say that the Tea Party doesn't support Republicans, I am fully aware that they have been throwing out many Republican bums in their primaries. However, the candidates they nominate all have the exact same agenda when it comes to the economy, health insurance, etc. - if not a more extreme one. And besides, even if a Tea Party candidate lost the nomination to the establishment Republican, do you actually believe that the Tea Party folks would stay home on election day, or vote for a Democrat? Not a chance. They are fired up and will fall right in line and pull the lever for the Republican come voting day. So the bottom line is that the Tea Party supports Republicans.
So then how do you explain the Tea Party's support of people who will go to Washington and vote against their own interests?
Sure, a lot of them are angry, intolerant and racist, and are paralyzed by fear of anyone/anything not just like them; anything that they don't understand. So a black man with a funny name gets elected and they go crazy.
But that is not all of them. The Tea Party is much more diverse than that. And I completely understand their anger - I am just as angry as them. Our government is a disgrace. Virtually all politicians from both parties are bought and paid for, and they get nothing done. Or when they do get something done, it almost always hurts the country.
So why then would the not-crazy, not-prejudiced faction of the Tea Party support the Republican agenda? If the Tea Party is representative of the American public, then only 1% of the Tea Party is rich enough to benefit from the Republicans' economic policy. Just about everybody aspires to be rich, but even if these hopefuls think that one day they will be in that 1%, why don't they wait until they get that rich to start voting Republican? One thing that rich successful people are good at is doing what benefits them at the time. So why handicap yourself right now with the hope that maybe one day you too will have a yacht?
Rational thought and logic cannot explain this phenomenon. So what then? Are we, as Bill Maher always says, a stupid country?
I hate to think that we are, but I can't find another explanation.
